Slip and Fall
These very simple accidents can have dangerous consequences. In 2009 alone there were 3.4 million treated slip and fall injuries. While many of these were minor injuries, many have left people in wheelchairs or with permanent spinal cord injuries.
Many of these injuries are caused by:
- foreign objects in the walking path
- wet or soapy surfaces
- cracks in sidewalks
- holes in the walking surface
Both the owner and the injured person have varying degrees of responsibility for injuries. The property owner has the responsibility of making sure that their property is safe. People have the responsibility to make sure they watch where they are going and realize that there are items which fall or spill onto walking surfaces.
